Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced practical works on a project worth nearly MVR 39 million to upgrade GDh. Fiyoaree's jetty to a modern harbor.
Practical works on the project were inaugurated in a ceremony held in Fiyoaree on Friday evening, which was attended by Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib, MTCC’s CEO Ahmed Saudee and Faresmaathodaa MP Ashraf Rasheed.
According to MTCC, the scope of work in the project includes 26,750 cubic meters of basin dredging, 18,300 cubic meters of new channel dredging, 281 meters of revetment, 155 meters of groyne, and 166 meters of L-section quay wall construction, including harbor pavement and street light installation works.

The project is valued at MVR 38.91 million.
Fiyoaree is an 80-hector farming island with a residential population of some 740 people. The picturesque island shares a lagoon with some 10 uninhabited islands.
