Immigration gives clearance to 2800 cruise liner passengers

The Maldives Immigration has given clearance for MSC Magnifica, a cruise liner that is currently berthed outside Male’.

According to Immigration, it provided clearance service to the cruise liner that departed from Fremantle-Perth, Australia on March 27th, and arrived in Male’ on April 3rd.

The vessel reportedly is carrying 1,866 passengers and 952 crew members, bringing the total number of travelers on board over 2,800.

Immigration also confirmed that this marked the longest trip for Seaport en-route clearance, with the vessel crossing from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean.

Current statistics from the Ministry of Tourism reveal a total of arrival of 667,730 tourists so far in this year, which is an approximate 4 percent increment from the corresponding period last year. Out of the total tourist arrivals so far, 69.5 percent of them stayed in tourist resorts.
