Maldivian govt. condemns plans to forcibly displace Palestinians

Cafe in Gaze reduced to rubbles in Israeli strike.

Maldivian government has strongly condemned Israel’s plans aimed at forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip via the establishment of an agency for the purpose.

Foreign Ministry, via a statement on Tuesday, said Maldivian government strongly condemns the announcement by the Israeli authorities to establish an agency aimed at the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, along with plans to separate 13 illegal settlement areas in the West Bank, in preparation for their legitimisation as colonial settlements.

The Ministry stressed that the Maldives  considers these actions a serious violation of international law and United Nations resolutions, especially Security Council Resolution 2334, adding forced displacement and settlement expansion undermine peace efforts and threaten the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people.

The statement reiterated Maldives’ calls on the international community to act urgently to protect civilians and help end the violence in Gaza while expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to an independent state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Israel has killed over 50,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in its genocide in the blockaded enclave since October 7, 2023, following a cross-border attack from Hamas.

The Israeli carnage reduced most of the Gaza to ruins and displaced almost the entire population, while causing a massive shortage of basic necessities.
