The Ministry of Islamic Affairs on Saturday has awarded a contract for the development of an Islamic Center at Shaviyani atoll Foakaidhoo along with mosques in another 11 islands.
In a ceremony held at the ceremonial hall of the Islamic Center in Male’ City, the contract was awarded jointly to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and Fenaka Corporation.
The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed signed the contract on behalf of the state and the Managing Director of MTCC, DCP (retired) Ahmed Saudhee and Fenaka Corporation’s Managing Director, Major (retired) Mohamed Najah signed on behalf of the contractors.
The Islamic Center at Foakaidhoo will be developed by Fenaka Corporation, and has agreed to complete the initiative under two years and five months.
Besides this, Fenaka Corporation was also awarded the design and development of eight mosques from the 11 remaining islands with MTCC awarded the design and development of three of these.
Projects awarded to Fenaka:
MTCC was contracted to developed 500-person capacity mosques each in HA. Baarah, B. Maalhos, and AA. Feridhoo, with the condition of completing the projects under one year.
Additional to this, Fenaka Corporation was also awarded the development of two branches of Center for Holy Quran in L. Maabaidhoo and Lh. Olhuvelifushi, with the condition of completing both projects under one year.
Establishment of an Islamic Center outside of Greater Male’ area and expanding the Center for Holy Quran’s venues across Maldives is a key pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
