President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Monday has congratulated the 47th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.
In a letter addressed to President Trump, Dr. Muizzu highlighted that the Maldives, a small island nation in the Indian Ocean, cherished its diplomatic ties with the US to advance shared goals of ensuring regional peace and prosperity. Muizzu expressed his wish to work with President Trump and his administration to achieve these shared goals for a more secure and safer global environment.
President Muizzu also highlighted that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the Maldives and the US establishing formal diplomatic ties between them, and added this milestone signified the strength of the partnership between the two countries.
He also emphasized that the Maldives values the mutual commitment to expand trade and economic cooperation, advance defence and security cooperation and address global challenges to upholding democratic values, rule of law and human rights.
In his concluding remarks, President Muizzu had wished the US President a successful term in the office and for his good health and wellbeing.
He also congratulated the US President in a post on X, stating that he wished the US head of state "wisdom and resolve as you take the helm at a time when the world is engulfed in dire turmoil and uncertainty."
