The names of two individuals nominated for Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) membership were forwarded to the Parliament’s Independent Institutions Committee for review on Thursday.
A letter sent by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu naming in his nominees for ACC membership was read out during Thursday’s parliamentary sitting; one of the two extraordinary sittings being held out of session to appoint members of independent institutions. The President had named two nominees of his choice from the applicants who had applied for the post during the application period. They are:
Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem forwarded the matter to the Independent Institutions Committee for review.
Two seats in ACC remain vacant following the resignation of the commission’s vice president Abdul Salam and member Thoha Mohamed back in November. Both of them had resigned after the Independent Institutions Committee had passed no-confidence motions against them on November 24th.
