President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has welcomed the ceasefire deal reached today, ending 15 months of genocidal war in Gaza.
Via a post on X early Thursday morning, the President extended gratitude to all the countries that contributed to facilitating this agreement.
He also appealed to the international community to support the continuation of the ceasefire, facilitate the return of displaced individuals to their homes, and ensure access to humanitarian aid.

He further called on Israel to provide reparations to Palestine and urged the international community to offer Palestine the immediate assistance required to rebuild in the aftermath of the destruction caused by Israeli actions.
The ceasefire deal reached on Wednesday includes a prisoner exchange, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and a plan for sustained peace, with its implementation scheduled to begin on Sunday.
The announcement came on day 468 of Israel's genocide against Gaza. More than 46,500 people have been killed, mostly women and children, and over 109,600 others injured in relentless Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 7, 2023, following a cross-border attack by Hamas.
Notably, ceasefire deals previously reached to halt the war have been violated by Israel.
