Maldivian passport retains ranking as strongest in South Asia

Maldivian passport has retained its ranking as the strongest passport in South Asia.

Maldives Immigration, referencing the Henley Passport Index, announced on X that the Maldivian passport has once again been ranked the strongest in South Asia.

Henley Passport Index is the original and authoritative ranking of global passports, determined by the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. The index relies on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the largest and most accurate travel information database, and is further supported by research from Henley & Partners' team.

According to the Index, the Singaporean passport is the strongest in the world with citizens from the nation able to travel to 195 countries without visa. The second place is held by Japan with citizens from the nation able to table to 193 countries without visa. The third place is held jointly by six countries: Finland, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea and Spain. Citizens from these nations can travel to 192 countries without visa.

Maldives is ranked 53rd in the Henley Passport Index, yet it holds the strongest passport in South Asia, with its citizens able to travel to 94 countries without visa. The country coming closest to Maldives from South Asia is India, ranked 85th. Nationals from India can travel to 57 countries without visa.
