Three arrested for liquor possession and peddling

Local authorities arrested three individuals for the suspicion of possessing and peddling liquor.

All three were arrested by Maldives Police Service during its special operation targeting the New Year’s Eve.

Police arrested Ismail Maaheen Musthafa, 26, from Male’; Ibrahim Akmal Abdul Sattar, 19, S. Hulhudhoo; and Ahmed Aanish, 22, S. Hulhudhoo in the case. Police said all three are suspected of possessing and peddling liquor.

They were summoned to the Criminal Court for remand, where all three received conditional bail.

Police is currently investigating the case.

The law enforcement authority has been conducting special operations these days as the use and sale of narcotics and liquor increase during new year celebrations.
