Pakistan HC marks birth anniversary of Pakistan’s founding father

Pakistan High Commission in the Maldives has commemorated the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founding father of Pakistan.

The birth anniversary of Quaid was celebrated during a ceremony held at Pakistan High Commission in Hulhumale’ which attended by High Commissioner Vice Admiral (R) Faisal Rasul Lodhi, Deputy High Commissioner Zulqurnain Ahmad, officials from Pakistan Maldives Friendship Association (PMFA), and both Pakistan and Maldivian fellows.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran followed by the national anthem of Pakistan to pay respects to the founding father.

Speaking at the ceremony, High Commissioner Lodhi paid rich tribute to Quaid, citing it was his dynamic and charismatic leadership which made the creation of an independent state for the Muslims of the subcontinent possible. In this regard, he said the Quaid relighted hope amongst the oppressed Muslims of sub-continent, led constitutional struggle and brought into fruition the idea of carving out an independent and sovereign Muslim state Pakistan, on the map of the world.

High Commissioner Lodhi said as we celebrate the birth anniversary of the founding father, we are reminded of his extraordinary vision, unwavering courage, and unparalleled determination. As such, he urged the youth to look up to Quaid-e-Azam their role model for success in life and to renew commitment to his guiding principles of unity, faith and discipline.

Making use of the opportunity, the High Commissioner shed light on Pakistan-Maldives relations, citing Pakistan takes immense pride in its brotherly relations with the Maldives. In this regard, he said Pakistan-Maldives relations are based on common faith, culture, historical links, mutual trust and respect for each other.

While both countries have been cooperating in many areas, the High Commissioner affirmed his commitment to working together to enhance the bilateral ties in all fields.

Deputy High Commissioner Zulqurnain who also spoke at the ceremony said Quaid-e-Azam lives on in the form of his vision, guidance, principles and character. He added that the best way to pay homage, to the great leader, is to adhere to his vision and follow his guiding principles in our individual as well as collective lives.

The ceremony included the cutting of a cake to mark the occasion and concluded with a prayer for the founding father, as well as for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
