Heavy damages after taxi parked on Hulhumale’ road catches fire

A taxi car parked on the side of a road in Hulhumale’ Phase II caught on fire on early morning Wednesday, resulting in extensive damages.

According to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), the fire was reported to the Hulhumale’ Fire Station at around 03:36 am.

Firefighters from the station were immediately deployed to the Hithigas Mague, where the vehicle was parked, and put out the fire at around 04:01 am.

While there were no reports of any injuries, the fire resulted in extensive damages to the vehicle.

Photos shared by the MNDF showed the front of the vehicle engulfed in flames.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this point.
