Man burned in Rasdhoo fire still in ICU

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) states the man out of the young couple who sustained severe burn injuries in a fire in their home in AA. Rasdhoo is still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The fire was reported to the police at around 11:15 pm on March 24th. The married couple – a man and woman both 31 years of age – sustained severe burn injuries in the incident and were immediately transferred to IGMH in Male’ City, where they were being treated on ventilator.

The woman passed away on Monday.

IGMH told Sun on Friday that the man remains in ICU and is still on oxygen support.

Notably, the woman passed away after IGMH brought in an expert doctor from India to treat to the couple.

According to IGMH’s CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Hameed, the doctor working at a hospital in India’s Mumbai has 24 years of experience in treating burns and plastic surgery.

A Rasdhoo resident who to Sun earlier said that the young couple lived in the house with their five-year-old child – who was unharmed in the incident.

According to the local, the fire originated from one of the rooms in the couple’s home, and caused burns to almost all of their body.
