Police seek information that could aid probe into the fire

Maldives Police Service has appealed to the public to share any information that could aid their investigation into the fire which broke at a building housing three government ministries on Thursday morning.

In this regard, the Police have requested anyone with information that could aid their investigation into the fire to contact Crime Investigation Department at 9911099 and share the information

Four government offices impacted by Thursday’s fire have set up temporary office space at Dharubaaruge. They are: Housing Ministry, Infrastructure Ministry, Environment Ministry and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Speaking at a press conference held at Dharubaaruge regarding the fire, Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau said efforts were underway to recruit a team of foreign experts for the investigation. In this trajectory, he expressed hope for the team of foreign experts to join the investigation in the next couple of days.

Ministry of Public Works is presently undertaking efforts to clean the premises of the fire. The building had completely burned down beyond use in the incident.
