City Council probes oil spilling in Male' lagoon

Male' City Council has launched an investigation into a potential case of deliberate oil spillage in Male' City lagoon.

A video that shows the said incident has been shared across various platforms already. In the video, a man, presumably a foreign worker employed on the vessel, is seen spilling the diesel out of a yellow-colored container.

In relation to the case, the council authority while speaking with 'Sun' confirmed the incident was brought to their attention, and has launched its investigation into the matter.

City Council is currently attempting to get a time stamp of the video footage to identify the potential date of incident.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), on the other hand, was unavailable for a comment. EPA is the primary body concerned with taking action against such culpable offenses.

The video has sparked criticism among people, with many emphasizing the importance of preserving the environment for future generations.

A netizen has also called out the authorities for a public disclosure of the actions being taken against the culpable parties.

Beyond contamination of the sea water and causing pollution, oil spillage could cause various health issues to the people as well.
