The Maldives Customs Service on Saturday confiscated drugs worth MVR 900,000 being smuggled into Maldives.
The authority, while briefing media on Sunday, said it confiscated 395 grams of drugs being smuggled via courier.
Customs said it discovered the content after finding items suspected of being illicit materials from a package.
The authority confirmed their preliminary tests on the substance have come positive for cocaine, and added the street value of the drug is around MVR 987,500.
Customs further confirms arresting, and subsequently handing over a suspect, a local male, in relation to the case to Maldives Police Service.
Earlier on November 24, Maldivian security forces had consfiscated 468.6 kilogram being smuggled via sea, which had a street value of MVR 1 billion.
Complete elimination of drugs from the Maldives is a key pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
