Maldives National University (MNU)’s ‘Redhan’ art exhibition which showcases the work of the university’s visual art students opened at National Art Gallery on Thursday.
As per the University, this marks first such art exhibition showcasing the works of its students.
The exhibition will be open until Sunday.
On Saturday and Sunday, the exhibition will be open from 10:00am to 22:00pm with the exception of prayer times.
MNU said the purpose of the exhibition facilitate an environment for artists that have resolved to learn and grow to become inspired. In this regard, the University said showcasing the students’ works will allow them to learn crucial information regarding the opportunities available for them across the work in the field.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the art exhibition, Higher Education Minister Dr. Mariyam Mariya said ‘Redhan’, the word, represents embodies the true spirit of art.
In this regard, she said the word symbolizes that the light of art brings strength to life even in the darkest moments.
She described art as a medium that connects everyone, invokes feelings and facilitates the exchange of social views.
Minister Mariya viewed the exhibits of the students following the opening ceremony.
