MNU holds seminar for diplomats on Maldivian culture and tradition

Maldives National University (MNU) has held ‘Maldives Cultural Seminal for Diplomats’ highlighting information on Maldivian culture and tradition.

The seminar held on Tuesday covered an extensive range of information on Maldives including culture, tradition, language, the conversion to Islam, introduction of politics, folk stories and customs.

The information was showcased by the third batch of students studying Master of Arts in Political Science and International Relations at MNU’s Faculty of Arts.

Speaking at the seminar as the chief guest, Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel cited developing connections with other humans as a foundation of the human experience, adding cultural exchanges between nations leads to increased respect and unity among nations. 

He underscored that Maldives’ heritage, customs, and the lifestyle of its people encourage the development of the economy and bilateral relations. He added that the exemplary qualities of Maldivians spread via diplomacy attract tourists and investors to the country.

Describing each student as an ambassador of the nation in the respective fields they choose, Minister Khaleel advised them to promote Maldives’ history, culture and traditions when representing the nation in their respective fields to seek respect and revive its heritage.
