The second Internet Governance Forum begins on Friday.

The Maldives is set to host the Internet Governance Forum (MVIGF) 2024 this weekend.

The second edition of the MVIGF will take place from Friday to Saturday at Maldives National University (MNU).

It will bring together key stakeholders from government, civil society, the commercial sector, and technological experts to engage in vital conversations about the future of internet governance in the Maldives.

The event will focus on four major themes:

  • Promoting digital innovation for local and global impact.
  • Empowering Maldivian communities with technology.
  • Promoting Sustainable Development and Digital Governance.
  • Improving cybersecurity and information integrity.

The event, hosted in partnership with USAID, the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and Women in Tech Maldives represents a critical step forward in the country's digital governance dialogues.

These collaborations demonstrate a shared vision for developing an inclusive, secure, and resilient digital infrastructure that benefits all Maldivians.

Some of the sessions will be streamed online to ensure the insights reach a wider audience.

Participants will be able to participate in panel discussions, workshops, lightning talks, round table discussions, hot seat, focus group discussions, and capacity building guided by professionals in the field.
