Ooredoo Maldives has donated specialized medical equipment worth MVR 16 million to enhance the capabilities of the national air ambulance service.
As per Ooredoo, the donation was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, with healthcare being one of its core pillars.
Air ambulance service was launched on March 1st with the support of Ooredoo Maldives and has already proven to be a vital lifeline for those in urgent need of medical assistance with the air ambulance handling 436 cases, transporting 517 patients to the care they urgently required.
Ooredoo has provided an initial batch of essential equipment in March which was crucial to enabling the successful launch of the service, said the company.
Building on the success of the service, Ooredoo has provided additional equipment to further enhance the air ambulance’s capacity. In this regard, the new batch of specialized equipment is designed to improve patient care and expand the service's capacity to respond effectively to medical emergencies across the Maldives.
Speaking at the handover ceremony of equipment, Ooredoo’s CEO Khalid Al Khamadi said the company’s investment of close to MVR 16 million underscores its commitment to ensuring that everyone, regardless of location, can access critical care when they need it.
“At Ooredoo Maldives, we firmly believe in the power of partnerships to meet the most urgent needs of our communities. Healthcare is a fundamental right, and we are proud to collaborate with the government to deliver life-saving initiatives like the air ambulance service,” he stressed.
Health Minister Abdulla Nazim said the handover stands as a testament to what is possible when businesses prioritize humanity.
“By investing in our healthcare, you’re investing in a future where every Maldivian knows they are cared for, valued, and protected. You have set a gold standard for corporate social responsibility, one that we hope will inspire others to step forward for the common good,” he added.
Ooredoo affirmed its commitment to supporting to the well-being of communities across the Maldives.
