Zakiyya’s body transferred back to Holhudhoo after analysis

The body of a middle-aged woman from N. Holhudhoo who was found dead in her home earlier this week with visible wounds was transferred back to the island on Thursday, after forensic analysis in the capital.

Zakiyya Moosa, 50, was found dead in her home on Tuesday morning. A special investigative team was deployed from the capital the same day, and her body was transported to Male’ for further analysis later that night.

A police spokesperson said her body was transported back to Holhudhoo after further analysis on Thursday morning.

Holhudhoo Council’s president Rilwan Mohamed told Sun that the island was currently making funeral arrangements. He said that Zakiyya would be buried after the noon prayer.

Local sources who spoke to Sun reported that Zakiyya suffered from mental health issues, for which she sought professional help. However, this has not been confirmed by her family or official channels.

According to one source, Zakiyya was seen talking and interacting with other people, shortly before she was found collapsed inside the storeroom of her home, with wounds on her throat and a knife on the ground near her body.

However, the police have not made any official statement regarding the nature of her death.

Zakiyya is survived by her husband, two sons and one grandchild.
