Police Commissioner Ali Shujau's father Abdul Salaam Ali (Manikube), who had served as an Imam of Haa Alifu atoll Hoarafushi for an extended period, has passed away.
Thoha Saleem, the current Principal of Ghiyasuddin International School and a local of Hoarafushi in a social media post highlighted Salaam's service to the community is invaluable.
"When we were students, and even when we began working, there was not a period where we would not hear Manikube's voice from the island's 'Bodu Miskiy'. As an Imam, attending and calling out the Azan, leading the congregational prayers, even on Fridays, is a service of the highest caliber from any citizen," Thoha in his social media post praised the late Salaam.
Thoha described Salaam as a man of few words who spent most of his time in prayer. He further praised Salaam was an exemplary Muslim, ideal employee, proud father, and an exceptional husband.
The GIS Principal said Hoarafushi is proud of the late Salaam, and highlighted his legacy as a committed and hardworking citizen will live on.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had extended his condolences to the CP's family, adding he took the news with deep sorrow.
"The late Abdul Salaam Ali had served as HA. Hoarafushi Imam for an extended period, is a well manner individual who had earned the love of the people," Dr. Muizzu said in a post on X.
