The Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau on Friday met with the officers who attended the scene of the kidnapping in Male’ City on Thursday evening, and praised them for their conduct.
The CP along with senior management officials of the law enforcement authority along with the commander of police squad that attended the scene, team leaders and officers attended the meeting at Iskandharu Building on Friday afternoon.
While speaking at the meeting, CP Ali Shujau said such a dangerous incident did not occur previously, but highlighted the effective threat neutralization by the officers who attended the scene.
Shujau said the operation was a success and expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in the operation. He emphasized the effective communication employed by the officers during the operation, and the entire incident and eventual outcome was indicative of exceptional coordination among the officers.
The CP further supported the method employed by the officers in neutralizing the threat.
While expressing pride about the police conduct in the incident, Shujau said Thursday evening’s incident stands testament of the commitment by police in ensuring public safety.
Majority of the public have been showering praises the police officers for their action, Shujau added and noted receiving public feedback highlighting areas to improve in future circumstances.
He stressed the importance of training the officers to make them more vigil and field-ready for similar circumstances in the future.
During the threat neutralization attempt, the female hostage had sustained minor injuries. She was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment, and police later confirmed she was in stable condition. Her assailant had sustained injuries during the scuffle and was taken to ADK Hospital for treatment.
