Immigration deports Suzu Beauty Salon owner

Shushmita Dhaugoda: The expatriate has been running her salon, 'Suzu Beauty Salon', illegally and was deported in the recent inspections by Maldives Immigration.

Authorities have deported the owner of 'Suzu Beauty Salon' for illegally running businesses in the Maldives.

Maldives Immigration, in a post on X, confirmed they have deported Shushmita Dhaugoda, aged 28 years, for illegally operating salon business at a large-scale.

The authority said they conducted a special investigation earlier on August 18th following a report received to 'Immigration Watch' - the authority's online whistleblower platform.

Upon inspection, authority's discovered Dhaugoda was running the business outside of her visa's scope.

Dhaugoda was taken into Immigration's custody and subsequently deported without return on August 20th.

'Suzu Beauty Salon' located in Chaandhanee Magu, Male' City, is a prominent beauty salon with a high-local clientele with social media popularity.

Dhaugoda, famously known as 'Suzu', is the second high-profile deportation. Earlier on August 13th, Immigration deported Rajani Shrestha, also known as Aishath Rizqin after she converted to Islam, for illegally running her salon, 'Salon by Riz'.

Immigration conducted a similar inspection of Shrestha's salon and discovered she was operating the business outside of her visa's scope, and four of her employees lacked valid visa documents as well.

This among the most recent deportations of the ongoing crackdown led by Immigration against illegal expats and foreigners operating businesses illegally.

The authority's "Immigration Watch" portal is available to lodge complaints 24 hours.
