Man arrested after indecently exposing himself to women at Male’ hospital mosque

A young man was arrested on Tuesday, after he allegedly indecently exposed himself to women at the mosque located inside the biggest government hospital in Male’ City.

The incident took place at the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) on Tuesday.

The suspect, identified as a 30-year-old Maldivian man, is accused of indecently exposing himself to female worshippers at the hospital’s mosque.

He was arrested and presented before the Criminal Court on Tuesday. The court remanded him in custody of the police for 15 days.

Court documents show the suspect has a history of indecent exposure.

In June, the man entered a school and indecently exposed himself.

He also has a history of prior arrests.

At his remand hearing on Tuesday, the suspect said he wants to hire legal representation, and wishes to exercise his right to remain silent.

His remand period expires on September 4.
