Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau, on Monday, has denied meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at any time during his tenure as the Housing Minister, in any capacity, over the case involving the company, Noomadi Resorts and Residential AG.

While speaking at a PNF event last night, former Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed alleged that President Muizzu was the mastermind behind the termination of Noomadi agreement.

Waheed said President Muizzu, who had been the Housing Minister back then, had contacted him regarding the case and he had met with the President alongside current Commissioner of Police Shujau.

Shujau released a statement on Monday, denying the allegations made by Waheed.

In this regard, Shujau said the alleged meeting between him and President Muizzu regarding Noomadi case were false claims and had no basis.

He also assured that he had not met with anyone alongside Waheed in connection to Noomadi case.

President Muizzu was charged with perjury on June 25, 2019, in connection to the arbitration case filed by Noomadi Resorts and Residence AG with the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague against the Government of Maldives following the termination of multiple agreements between the two for various projects.

He was accused of providing false statements as a witness on behalf of Noomadi in the case.

However, the charge was not proven at court.
