Man arrested for stealing over MVR 26,000 from an apartment

A man has been arrested on Tuesday for breaking into an apartment and stealing over MVR 26,000.

Police said Abdulla Thilmeez, 32, M. Dhinmanaa, was arrested sometime on Tuesday on suspicion of breaking into an apartment in Male’ City and stealing a large sum of money.

They noted that MVR 26,960 stolen by Thilmeez was recovered and handed over to the owner.

The case is under investigation by the Police.

While there has been a sharp increase in theft and robbery cases recently, most suspects arrested in such cases are youths and middle-aged men.  

Police Intelligence is currently undertaking a special operation to curtail these crimes.
