Top arrivals from China in July, maintains top rank overall

According to Maldives Immigration, arrivals from China topped the ranking in July 2024.

Statistics from Immigration confirmed a total arrival of 38,338 Chinese tourists last month, while arrivals from Russia, which came in second, stood at 21,221.

Chinese arrivals in annual terms from January until August 4th have reached over 165,000, while Russian arrivals in annual terms, for the same duration, reached over 129,000.

According to Immigration, Maldives attracted a total of 167,529 tourists in July this year. The daily arrival average during the previous month stood at 5,404, while the maximum single-day arrival stood at 6,215 and the minimum single-day arrival was 4,169.

Immigration reports that the total tourist arrivals in July this year saw a 15 percent increase from the total 145,620 arrivals recorded in July 2023.

Meanwhile, the Maldives has attracted over 1.2 million tourists in annual terms, which is a 10.3 percent annual increase.

The Maldives government earlier announced a total visitor target of 2 million tourists for 2024.
