BML banking apps down again, public frustration grows

Bank of Maldives' mobile banking application displayed on a phone.

The Bank of Maldives (BML) digital banking applications have been down causing grievances to the customer base.

"Due to a technical issue, we're facing interruptions to our Mobile App and Internet Banking," the bank said in a social media post.

While the bank announced the issue around 7:51hrs on Wednesday morning, several customers have reported that the apps have been down since Wednesday dawn.

The bank assured it was working to resolve the issue "as soon as possible" and apologized to its customers for the inconvenience.

This is the second time in one week that BML's mobile banking application has been down, with a similar interruption experienced on August 1st when services were interrupted due to a human error during payment processing that resulted in some accounts being credited with large sums of money erroneously.

Although the bank has issued an apology, many of its customers and public members have been expressing their concerns and frustration over the interruptions that have been growing more frequent recently.
