Young man crashes bike into sand pile in Addu

A young man crashed his motorbike into a sand pile on the side of a road in Addu City on Friday night, leaving him injured.

A police spokesperson said that the incident took place at around 11:49 pm on Friday, in the Hithadhoo district of Addu.

According to the police, the motorcyclist, identified as a 23-year-old Maldivian male, had been speeding when his vehicle veered out of control and crashed into a pile of sand near where the road was dug up to install a storm water drainage system.

He is currently being treated at the Addu Equatorial Hospital, which is working on transferring him to Male’ for additional treatment.

The accident is being looked into by the police.
