President sends condolences to Indian PM following Wayanad landslides

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has sent a message of condolence to Indian Prime Minister Naredra Modi following landslides in Kerala State.

The landslides in Wayanad District of the state had claimed the lives of over hundred and injured more.

President Muizzu described this extensive loss of lives, livelihoods, and devastation caused by this disaster as an unimaginable tragedy.

In his message, President Muizzu offered condolences on behalf of the government and the people of the Maldives. He also expressed hope that the search and rescue efforts at the site will be able to operate quickly and successfully.

Muizzu wished fortitude to the victims' families, loved ones, and everyone affected by the incident.

Over the past few weeks, Kerala has been experiencing its seasonal rain. While the exact death toll cannot be accounted for, Indian media outlets speculate this figure was a little above 160.

More than hundreds of Kerala locals are believed to be stuck beneath the rubble of the mud and fallen debris from the houses.
