Prominent businessman, Abdulla Hussain Latheef (Athama Abdul Latheef), M. Meadow, has died on Monday at the age of 94.
Sun has learned that Athama Abdul Latheef died sometime this afternoon while being treated at ADK Hospital.
The details of his funeral have not been disclosed so far.
Athama Abdul Latheef who undertook various businesses at a large scale. He first entered business as a hardware seller. He later ventured into tourism and escort services for pilgrims.
In this regard, he significantly contributed to simplifying the provision of escort services for Maldivian pilgrims and spent a large number of years providing the service.
He is also well-versed in mathematics and has served as a mathematics teacher at Majeedhiyya School.
Athama Abdul Latheef also served as the manager of the national hotel run by the government in Male’.
With his business profits, Athama Abdul Latheef has built mosques across various Maldivian islands. He was bestowed the national award by the government in recognition of his services.
Athama has nine children from four marriages; five males and four females.
