Home Minister pledges ensuring honesty of officers

The Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan on Thursday said he will ensure honesty of all uniformed public officials.

He made the pledge while speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony commemorating the 134^th anniversary of the Maldives Customs Service, which he officiated as chief guest as well.

The minister hoisted the Maldives national flag in the ceremony held in front of the authority’s main building on Thursday morning at 06:00hrs, while Commissioner General of Customs Yoosuf Maaniu hoisted Customs’ flag.

While speaking at the ceremony, Ihusan stressed the importance of the authority’s services to the public. He added the authority has to consistently ensure the security of the services it provide as well.

“The most difficult thing to focus here is to maintain the security standards of Customs while it delivers its services to the public,” Ihusan said.

The minister further advised Customs to adhere to its standards despite the challenges it faces.

He also highlighted the authority’s services have been improved in line with the vision of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and thanked the Customs’ management and senior officials for their commitment.

At Thursday morning’s ceremony, Maaniu said the authority gives special caution on improving the services it provides to customers, and highlighted some of the recent achievements of Customs.

Maaniu also thanked the Maldives Police Service and Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) for their support and assistance.

Besides the head office, the branches of Customs across the country held flag hoisting ceremonies to commemorate the authority’s anniversary as well.

The Maldives Customs Service was established on July 18, 1890.
