Over 900 students receive aid under First Degree Scheme

Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) on Sunday confirmed close to a thousand students have received assistance under the First Degree Scheme so far in 2024.

Statistics the ministry shared with 'Sun', showed a total of 1,182 applications lodged with the ministry as of January 01 to May 09, 2024.

Out of the submitted total, the ministry accepted and processed 949 applications while 207 were sent back for the applicants to fill missing details.

The First Degree Scheme was introduced by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Meanwhile, more than 10,000 students are currently subject to the scheme's assistance.

Students also remark that the scheme has been helpful with their academics.
