The suspect believed to have attempted to cast black magic on Funadhoo MP-elect Mohamed Mamdhooh has been remanded for another 10 days, Maldives Police Service confirmed on Sunday.
A 60-year-old man was arrested earlier on May 02nd from Sh. Funadhoo, for their suspected involvement in casting black magic on the MP-elect.
Funadhoo Magistrate Court ordered an initial 15-day remand on the suspect, after which they were summoned to the court once more for a remand extension.
A local from Funadhoo speaking with 'Sun' said the individual had apparently cast their black magic spell on large trees in the island.
The local said Funadhoo islanders gathered in front of the magistrate court on Sunday when the alleged black magic practitioner was summoned for remand hearing.
Meanwhile, pictures of the supposed materials the suspect had used for the spell, have been shared on social media.
Mamdhooh won the recent parliamentary election's Funadhoo seat with a landslide victory of 1,100-vote difference. He defeated former MP Ilham Ahmed with a total of 1,486 votes.
