Addu City Mayor Ali Nizar said the council is now working to issue plots from the city to the recipients next week.
The preliminary recipient list for Addu City plots was published on August 17th, 2023 after which the final list was published as well.
While speaking with 'Sun', Nizar said a draw was conducted among the eligible recipients to allocate the plots. He said the council is now making the administrative arrangements, and added they were allotting the lands prior to issuance.
"We expect to commence plot issuance in Feydhoo next week. So, we preparing for it administratively," Nizar commented.
Addu City Council previously announced that plots would be issued under two phases. Under the first phase, 1,000 plots will be issued from four districts of Addu City - which includes 500 plots from Hithadhoo, 300 plots from Feydhoo, and 100 each from Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo.
Surveys and land use plan will be prepared before plots are issued from the reclaimed lands under the second phase.
From the eligible recipients, a total of 2,145 recipients are eligible to receive plots under Category-A; this includes 860 plots from Feydhoo, 231 plots from Hulhudhoo and 271 plots from Meedhoo.
Another 295 recipients are eligible to receive plots from Hithadhoo, 179 plots from Feydhoo, 37 plots from Hulhudhoo, and 34 plots from Meedhoo under Category-B.
The City Council aims to provide plots to the eligible recipients by June 2024.
