NSPA extends IVF program participation window

The government has extended application duration for those seeking in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment funded by the state.

The opportunity, which was opened on March 15th was set to expire on May 15th originally. However, National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) on its Tuesday announcement said, the application period has been extended until 14:00hrs on May 31st.

NSPA said the opportunity to seek the services based on eligibility under the "Regulation on the Provision of IUI and IVF treatments under Aasandha Scheme" - which is published on NSPA website - will be extended to the interested parties.

Only the 100 highest scoring couples will receive the opportunity every year.

The announcement further confirmed that interested individual may continue to apply for the state-funded IVF and IUI treatments via the Aasandha Digital Portal.

NSPA said that patients can seek treatment from applicable medical institutions in the Maldives or from empaneled foreign medical institutions as well.

Previously, NSPA said it would publish the list of eligible applicants without disclosing their identities publicly.

Provision of these treatments through Aasandha is among the key pledges of Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
