MWSC announces discount on April water bill

Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) announced on Sunday that if the water bill for April is higher than the discounted bill in March, the company will waive off the balance as a discount.

In a statement on early Sunday, MWSC said that it provided the discount on domestic utility bills during Ramadan on bills sent between March 11 and April 11.

According to MWSC, the discounts provided during the period amounts to MVR 14.13 million.

The company announced an additional discount on the April water bill.

MWSC said that if the April water bill is higher than the bill in March, the balance will be waived off as a discount.

“If the amount waived off is lower than 10 percent of the April bill, the discount rate will be raised to 10 percent,” said the company. “And even if April bill is lower than the March bill, we will still provide a 10 percent discount on the April bill.”

The company added that the 10 percent discount on the April bill will also be provided to new domestic customers.

MWSC said that customers will receive an SMS informing them of the adjustments to their bills.

Just ahead of Ramadan, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced his decision to offer a discount on domestic utility bills to ease the burden on households during the holy month. Both water and electricity were billed based on average consumption during regular months.
