Two local men, expat women arrested from Addu spa

Authorities have arrested two local men and several expatriate women from an Addu City establishment operated under the pretext of a spa.

Maldives Police Service on Thursday confirmed the authority arrested these individuals during an operation in Addu atoll Feydhoo on Wednesday.

The three women have been identified as Thai nationals.

Police is currently investigating the case.

Several local spas and some clinics have been accused of being fronts for prostitution rings. Cases of prostitution have been on the rise more recently.
