Govt contracts MTCC for Dhiggaru 75-housing-unit project

Ministry of Housing on Thursday, has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to develop 75 housing units in Meemu atoll Dhiggaru.

Housing Ministry's Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed signed the agreement on behalf of the government, and MTCC's Chief Executive Officer Abdulla Ziyad signed on behalf of the contractor.

According to the ministry, the cost for the MVR 117.9 million worth project will be financed through the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) budget allocated in the 2024 state budget.

The housing units, spanning 1,000 square feet, will feature three bedrooms with attached toilets in each, a sitting room, kitchen, dining room, laundry, and store room.

Housing Ministry added the units will also feature amenities including vehicle parking, lighting, and a community park.

MTCC has been contracted to complete the project under 420 days, the ministry said.
