Large fire breaks out in Male' City residence

A large fire broke out of a Male' City building on Wednesday evening.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) confirmed to local media that the fire broke out from M. Rabeeu Villa, and added their Fire and Rescue team have been dispatched to the location to control the fire.

MNDF further said the fire originated from the fourth floor of the building. While noting the residency of multiple occupants, MNDF added it has not been able to confirm any injuries from the incident so far.

The Fire and Rescue team have been able to access the building to control the fire, as per the most recent updates, and after 30 minutes since the incident's initial report, confirmed the fire has been controlled.

Videos and images of the fire have been circulating on social media platforms, and shows a large fire has broken out of the residence.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) also confirmed their team was currently active on site.
