Two injured in collision between pickup and motorbike in Thinadhoo

Two people have been injured in a collision between a pickup and a motorcycle in GDh. Thinadhoo on Sunday.

Police, in a message to the media, said the collision occurred between a pickup traveling from north to south of Ghaazee Magu and a motorbike traveling on Aitharafani Magu at approximately 3:40pm on Sunday.

The drivers of both the motorbike and the pickup were injured in the accident, said the Police, adding they were both being treated at Thinadhoo’s Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital.

Police did not disclose the extent of the injuries of the drivers or any further information regarding them.

However, they said the accident is under further investigation.

Road accidents in the Maldives are mostly recorded in the Male’ area – some of them fatal or resulting serious injuries to victims. 

As per statistics publicized by the Police, the highest number of cases reported to the authority in the third quarter of last year were road accidents at 1,116.

606 cases were lodged and investigated out of this. 549 cases were concluded, however charges were only sought in one case.
