EC opens re-registration for parliamentary election

Elections Commission (EC) on Sunday, announced re-registration for upcoming parliamentary election is now open.

Ismail Habeeb, the Vice President of EC on X said, the re-registration window for voters will be opened until 15:00 on March 16th, 2024.

He urged voters requiring re-registration to complete the procedure ahead of the deadline.

After President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu ratified the amendment preventing elections during Ramadan, EC postponed the parliamentary election, previously scheduled for March 17th.

Parliamentary election is now set for April 21st according to EC.

The commission earlier announced it will be accepting online re-registration applications only for this year's parliamentary election.

EC said it will not accept physical application forms, and urged voters to use either their eFaas login or the link provided by the commission to re-register. The link can also be used as an alternative login option should a voter's eFaas login fail.
