President: Everyone will get housing opportunities from Male’ although residents are prioritized

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, assuring Male’ residents will be prioritized in the housing projects carried out in the Male’ area, states residents of other islands will also receive housing opportunities from the Male’ area.

Fariyaal Hussain from Dh. Meedhoo inquired whether residents from the islands will receive housing opportunities from Male’ area on the ‘Raees ge Javaabu’ series on Friday; a platform that enables the public to get direct responses to their queries and concerns from the President. 

Responding to the question – President Muizzu said housing projects in Male’ area will be implemented under a policy that allows the opportunity for all individuals, including residents of other islands. Nevertheless, he stressed that the highest priority will be allocated to ensure housing in Male’ area for Male’ residents, as housing has been the most prevalent issue faced in the capital for over a long period of time.

Although President Muizzu has affirmed Male’ residents will be prioritized in the housing projects carried out in Male’ area – he expressed his vision to facilitate housing opportunities in Male’ area for residents from other islands once the housing needs of Male’ residents have been addressed.

In this trajectory, he pledged to pave the way for housing opportunities in a manner that is accessible for all citizens across the nation.

“Permanent housing will be ensured for all Maldivian citizens by the end of this term,” the President reiterated his electoral pledge again on Friday.

Ahead of answering the inquiry on Friday’s program – President Muizzu, noting it was International Women’s Day, conveyed greetings on the occasion to all women.

“My policy is to ensure women are empowered individuals. Many efforts are being undertaken in this trajectory,” he added.
