396 patients in queue seeking IGMH free medical checkup

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has reported a total of 396 patients above the age of 50 years are currently on the waitlist to seek free medical checkup from the hospital.

The hospital informed to 'Sun' patients can book appointments for the free checkup from 08:00 to 15:00 everyday except for Fridays and Saturdays.

IGMH provides the free medical checkup services on Sundays and Thursdays every week; with a maximum of 20 patients consulted on the days.

The free medical checkup service through Aasandha was initiated on January 01, 2024. Each patient above the age of 50 is entitled to one free medical checkup annually, with patients requiring a second checkup provided the service freely if they submit a valid doctor's statement.

The service will be applicable for other age groups in the coming months, which include;

  • For patients aged between 35 and 49 years, and those below age 19 will be entitled to free checkups from April 01
  • For patients aged between 19 and 39 the checkup service will be available from July 01

The free medical checkup through Aasandha is currently only applicable from state-run hospitals; which include IGMH, Hulhumale' Hospital and Vilimale' Hospital in Greater Male' region.
