Many food establishment in Male’ fail to meet hygiene standards

Male’ City Council states there are many food establishments in Male’ City that fail to meet hygiene standards while there are also food establishments being run by expatriates without the necessary permits.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) in collaboration with Male’ City Council conducted a mass inspection of food establishments in Male’ City, Hulhumale’, Vilimale’, Thilamale’, Gulhifalhu, and Crossroads from February 18th till March 2nd.

The Council, in a statement on Sunday sharing the findings of the inspection, said authorities had taken note of many food establishments that fail to meet hygiene standards in Male’ City.

The Council also detailed having discovered food establishments being operated by expatriates without the necessary permits during this operation, adding that HPA will be taking action against such places.

There are various regulations in place to ensure the safety of food for consumption. Food establishments’ failure to adhere to these regulations comes to light here and there.
