A large crocodile found in an uninhabited island in Shaviyani Atoll on Saturday has been handed over to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
The crocodile, measuring approximately 10 feet long, was found in Farukolhu Island at around 03:30 pm on Saturday, by a group of young men who went to the island to pick coconuts.
The men were from Funadhoo, which shares a lagoon with Farukolhu.
They immediately reported it to the police.
The crocodile was caught with the combined effort of the police and the group of friends.
Funadhoo Council’s president Ahmed Ibrahim Fulhu told Sun that the crocodile was handed over to the custody of MNDF on Saturday night.
The spokesperson from MNDF was not immediately available for comment.
