The Ministry, in a statement on Friday, said operations at GA. Koddoo and Addu City have been resumed after the fishermen concluded the strike they had staged over unpaid dues.
The Ministry also thanked fishermen for accepting the proposal put forth by Fisheries Minister Ahmed Shiyam during his meeting with striking fishermen at Kooddoo.
“We note that the Maldivian government and this Ministry over the halt in operations facilities related fisheries resulting in huge losses to fishermen, their families and those companies during such times,” the statement read.
The delay in the disbursement of payments prompted fishermen to launch a strike at the MIFCO fisheries complex in GA. Koodoo on Sunday, which led to the halt of operations at the complex.
The fishermen concluded the strike after two days, when the disbursement of unpaid dues began.
