Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has wished a swift recovery to UK’s King Charles III following his recent cancer diagnosis.

Buckingham Palace announced King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer and commenced treatment on Monday.

In a post on X on Tuesday evening, President Muizzu conveyed that he was “deeply saddened” to hear the news.

Expressing confidence that King Charles will tackle the diagnosis with tenacity and resolve – President Muizzu wished His Majesty “a swift return to vibrant health”, on his own accord and on behalf of the people of the Maldives.

King Charles had sought medical intervention for benign prostate enlargement earlier this month. As per Buckingham Palace, the secondary condition was discovered during the course of treatment.

Although the palace refrained from specifying the type of cancer afflicting the monarch, it affirmed that the diagnosis did not pertain to prostate cancer.

The palace said the King remains "wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible".
