Mutual terms reached to continue operations of Indian aviation platforms

India’s Ministry of External Affairs, on Friday night, said the governments of India and Maldives have reached mutual terms to enable continued operations of Indian aviation platforms that provide humanitarian and medical evacuation service in the Maldives.

The second meeting High-Level Core Group between Maldives and India took place in India’s capital New Delhi on Friday.

Maldivian Foreign Ministry, in a statement regarding the meeting on Friday night, said the Indian government has agreed to withdraw Indian military personnel from the Maldives before May 10^th.

Also commenting on the meeting, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said both sides agreed on a set of mutually workable solutions to enable the continued operation of Indian aviation platforms that provide humanitarian and medical evacuation services to the Maldivian people.

The Ministry also noted that the meeting saw continued discussions on a wide range of issues concerning bilateral cooperation towards identifying steps to enhance the partnership, including expediting the implementation of ongoing development cooperation projects.

Both ministries noted that the next meeting of the High-Level Core Group will be held in the Maldives at a mutually agreeable date.

Prior to this, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who based his presidential campaign on expelling the Indian military personnel in the Maldives, formally asked India to withdraw its military personnel by March 15^th.
