Male’ records 159 millimeters of rain

The heaviest rainfall over the last 24 hours was recorded in Male’ City, according to the national weather forecast center.

Male’ area experienced torrential rain on Friday, which flooded the city’s streets and damaged homes.

According to information released by the Maldives Meteorological Service, the heaviest rainfall was recorded in Male’ City, with 159.3 millimeters of rain.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) received requests for assistance from 144 homes affected by flooding.

57 people living in eight homes were moved to temporary shelters.

Outside of Male’ City, Hulhumale’ recorded 143.4 millimeters of rain, while Hulhule’ recorded 105.4 millimeters on rain.

Meanwhile, K. Kaashidhoo recorded 68.3 millimeters of rain, while ADh. Maamigili recorded 62.5 millimeters, and AA. Thoddoo recorded 54.6 millimeters.

The extensive flooding came a week after Male’ City experienced a similar situation, resulting in damages to over 160 buildings, most of them residential homes.
